Dust of E3

E3 has come to an end for a week now and the dust has settled.  There has been no big news out yet since, but there are tons of articles out on the web saying the same things as articles I have already posted.  Here is the latest article:

The Annual E3 Awards: 2006 published on May 18th 2006 by GameSpy.com.  Spore ranks as the #2 PC game, newcomer Bioschock being #1.  Bioshock currently does not have a website.  Spore did not rank in any other platforms since  they are till working on the PC version. Will Wright does say that they will be coming out on all platforms, so you can probably look for it on cell phones, Wii, X360, PS3, DS, PSP, and possibly even Mac.  When concrete news of this has been released, I will post.

New Gameplay Video on GameTrailer.com that was published on May 17th 2006. It is the second video on their list.  I think this is one of the best gameplay video's available.  It shows every phase of evolution and some of their transitions, wars on your planet, abduction, colonizing other planets, as well as destroying other planets.  This video is a must see!

Robin Williams Plays Spore Video

The video everyone has been talking about has been posted on Google videos, so here it is: where Robin Williams tries out Spore himself!  Will Wright goes through the same gameplay demonstration as in the gamespot video, Robin William guest stars as he creates his own creature and cracks jokes the entire time.  At the end of the video Robin Williams is interviewed on the games he plays, and then another short interview with Will Wright.  The movie lasts 39 min 13 sec.  Enjoy!

Google videos also has a shorter version of this video of just Robin Williams playing.  It is 14 min 2 sec and can be found by clicking here.

Will Wright Interviewed by GameSpy

GameSpy was able to get an exclusive interview with Will Wright!  In the interview, Will Wright confirms that Spore will not be released til April or May 2007. Spore will be released for PC first and then later for other platforms.  The article is entitled Breakfast with Will Wright, written by Steven Kent and published on May 11th 2006.

Spore Figurines

Joystiq has another article on their website entitled Spore Figurines at E3, and the article has lots of pictures of just that. The figurines are creatures that Spore designers had built in the game.

Robin Williams and Spore Video

The videos of Robin Williams playing Spore has come out!  Without a doubt this has been a great press combo for both Robin Williams and Spore.  Apparently Robin Williams is quite the gamer!  Joystiq has published an article entitled Joystiq Video: Wired Spore Event, featuring Will Wright and Robin Williams [update 3] on May 11th 2006, and uploaded a 420MB video that lasts 40 minutes. They also have smaller download segments if you want to get right to the meat.

A bit torrent of the video has also been found here.

Spore Gameplay Video

GameSpot's gameplay Spore video has been added to YouTube so here it is:

IGN at E3

IGN has also covered Spore at the E3.  They have a great 2-page article about everything they learned as well as a gameplay video.  The video is the same one as the one found on Gamespot but appears to be of much better quality.  The article is entitled E3 2006: Spore - Demo and Hands-on Impressions, was written on Dan Adams and published on May 10th 2006.  Here is a link to the awesome gameplay video they have.

G4 TV has 2 Spore Videos

The G4 TV have two videos available about Spore.  One is an actual interview of Will Wright and G4's Kevin, entitled Inside Look at Spore.  The second video is of a hands-on video where Kevin tries to create his own creature, and is entitled Hands-On: Spore.  To find the videos, use the Search by Keyword search, and search for Spore.

Robin Williams tries Spore

Robinwilliams Wired Magazine had a group of select invitees to a Will Wright Spore demo.  After the demonstration, he asked if anyone would like to try creating creatures of their own, to which Robin Williams stood. Kotaku writes about it, entitled E306: Wired's Will Wright Event.  Kotaku also published another brief article entitled E306: Robin Williams Spore One-Liners, which pretty much describes the article.  It is a list of one-liners he used while creating his Spore alien. Both articles were posted on May 10th 2006.

Spore E3 on Gamespot

Gamespot has been doing a great job covering E3.  Here are two articles found on their website that are a very interesting read:

E3 06: Spore Updated Impressions - Conquering the Universe published on May 10th 2006 and written by Andrew Park. It is about the demonstration Will Wright gave on Spore.  He went through every stage of the game to show what could happen.

E3 06: Spore Creature Editor Hands-On published on May 10th 2006 and written by Greg Kasavin. Visitors were allowed to go behind scenes where Will Wright himself showed them how to play the game.  It is noted here how easy it is to create your creature, which was a major goal.  Will Wright has often said that he wanted normal people to feel like they were making creatures of Pixar quality.  They have the video available entitled Spore Gameplay Movie 1, found on the right menu.  The hi-res version is 479MB and the low-res version is 111.5MB.
